July got off to a very good start. Some of us from the 2nd, others from the 3rd, but more or less everyone by the 5th (no, that's not a maths riddle) of the month, we naturists spent our days at Kamp Smlednik in Dragočajna.

It's a small camp on the left bank of the Sava, just before Lake Zbilje, and the stretch along the river is set aside for us naturists. Mostly it's visited by foreign guests passing through, day-trippers who'd rather not wear wet swimsuits, and us — once a year, for one long weekend.

Our crew

Counting our handful of day visitors, we numbered 20 in total. Some rolled in with motorhomes, others of us pitched pop-up tents, hoping we'd remember how to fold them back down again on the way out, and a few just slept in the car.

Our canine contingent has thinned out a bit, but we still had two little snorers along: Čarno and Enzo. Plus two resident ducks from the camp. And, happily, no mosquitoes, wasps or flies.

On two wheels

On Friday the keenest among us were already out cycling, and on Saturday we rode again, this time in greater numbers and all the way to Strmol Castle, near the village of Dvorje by Cerklje na Gorenjskem — one of the oldest and best-preserved castles in Slovenia, these days run as a boutique hotel and venue for official functions. On the way back, though, we very nearly left one of our own stranded on a bollard at the end of a cycle-path overpass.

But it all worked out without any lasting damage.

On Sunday we cycled out again, this time to the new footbridge over the Sava that connects Vikrče and Medno.

Everyone else, of course, was busy swimming, sunbathing, hiding from the sun, drinking coffee, sipping something colder, and chatting away — which can be even more exhausting than pedalling! — Manja Šešek

A picnic and the club game

On Saturday we put on a picnic, and it was thoroughly delicious. There was no shortage of food — we were still passing round spreads, vegetables and bread the next day.

Saturday's picnic under the trees — thoroughly delicious.

We also played our club game — Knocking Down Cveto's Peg — and, as always, had a good laugh at the cheeky remarks flying around.

If you haven't been to Kamp Smlednik yet ... we highly recommend it!
